On August 7, 2020, the California Energy Commission (Energy Commission) released a Grant Solicitation and Application Package entitled “BESTFIT Innovative Charging Solutions” under the Clean Transportation Program (formerly known as the Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program).
This grant solicitation is an offer to fund transformative charging solutions and work to accelerate the successful commercial deployment of electric vehicle (EV) charging for both light-duty and medium- and heavy-duty (MD/HD) applications.
This solicitation followed a two-phase process. During the Pre-Application Abstract phase, an evaluation committee evaluated Pre-Applications Abstracts based on the published screening and evaluation criteria in the solicitation application manual (Section V.A). The combined evaluation committee members’ scores determined the Applicant’s total score.
There were two main categories in this grant solicitation, one in the Light-Duty Vehicle and one in the Medium and Heavy-Duty Vehicle sector.
WattEV applied in the Medium and Heavy-Duty Vehicle sector and has obtained the highest score not only in this sector but also the highest score among all fifty five participants on both sectors and different areas of focus.
